For EUR-based accounts, Stripe Express typically transfers directly to your local bank account with minimal fees — generally the cleanest option when available, since it avoids a third-party intermediary entirely. Mercor's weekly Wednesday payout via Stripe has been consistently reliable in our 14 months of testing.

Wise (formerly TransferWise)

Wise is the most broadly recommended option for EU contractors receiving USD-denominated payments. It provides a USD-receiving account number, converts at the mid-market rate with a transparent small percentage fee, and sends the converted EUR to your German or EU bank account. This is particularly useful for platforms that pay in USD and don't offer direct EUR bank transfer. Opening a Wise account before you receive your first payout is strongly recommended — the process takes a few days to verify.

Payoneer

Payoneer is widely used by Outlier AI and DataAnnotation.tech. It works reliably for EU contractors but has slightly higher fees than Wise for EUR conversion and a less clean interface. It's a legitimate, reliable option — just not the preferred one when Wise or Stripe are available.

PayPal

PayPal is available on several platforms but is generally the least recommended option for regular income due to its currency conversion fees and occasional account limitations. If a platform offers PayPal alongside Payoneer or Wise, use the alternative.

SEPA Bank Transfer

A few platforms support SEPA transfers directly, which eliminates conversion fees entirely if the platform can pay in EUR. This is less common among US-based AI training platforms but worth checking during onboarding if available, particularly for higher-volume income where conversion fees compound meaningfully.

The practical setup order: open a Wise account before your first payout, set Stripe Express as your primary method on Mercor (fastest, lowest fees), and use Wise as your USD-receiving account for any platform that pays in USD only.
